Rodríguez Torres: "Cineasta" era la fachada del estadounidense capturado Timothy Hallett Tracy
Caracas, 05 May. AVN.- Ni fotógrafo, ni cineasta, el ministro de Relaciones Interiores, Justicia y Paz, general Miguel Rodríguez Torres, aseguró que el estadounidense Timothy Hallett Tracy, detenido a finales del mes de abril, usó estas profesiones como "fachada".
Los funcionarios de inteligencia estuvieron haciendo seguimiento al ciudadano estadounidense desde el año pasado, antes de las elecciones presidenciales de octubre, y concluyeron que su actividad se corresponde con una operación de espionaje.
"Toda su actividad obedece a lo que llamamos en inteligencia 'una fachada', dijo el ministro en el programa José Vicente Hoy, que transmite la televisora Televen, e informó que lograron incautar más de 500 videos, además de correos que lo vinculan con personas de la derecha venezolana y que revelan planes para generar violencia.
Rodríguez Torres ha explicado que las investigaciones realizadas a Tracy permitieron evidenciar que desde hace tiempo este hombre "ha recibido financiamiento de Organizaciones No Gubernamentales (ONG) extranjeras, que luego sirven para cancelar honorarios de jóvenes tarifados de JAVU y Movimiento Trece, que además son militantes de partidos de extrema derecha como Primero Justicia, Voluntad Popular y Proyecto Venezuela, con el objetivo de generar acciones violentas en las calles y así crear un ambiente de caos.
"Cuando uno quiere hacer trabajo de inteligencia en otro país, sobre todo esas grandes potencias que hacen ese tipo de trabajo y espionaje, usan mucho la fachada del cineasta, documentalista, fotógrafo o periodista", manifestó.
Reveló que el ciudadano estableció comunicación con los grupos de derecha, se reunía con ellos clandestinamente y a la vez se disfrazaba de chavista y aparecía en los grupos chavistas. "Hizo amigos en grupos y colectivos de la Revolución para buscar su cobertura".
El ministro dijo que luego del seguimiento recabaron suficientes elementos para pensar que se trata de una operación de espionaje. "Fuimos a detenerlo y lo presentamos en los tribunales con los elementos probatorios que incautamos hasta el momento".

Caracas, 05 May. AVN.- Neither photographer, nor filmmaker, Interior Relations and Justice minister Miguel Rodriguez Torres affirmed that US citizen Timothy Hallett Tracy, arrested late in April, used such professions as a guise.
Intelligence officers wre monitoring the US citizen since last year, before the October presidential elections, and came to the conclusion that his activities matched to espionage operations.
"His entire activity obeys to what we call 'a guise'," said the minister in an interview at a private TV channel. Also, he informed that there have been seized over 500 videotapes, as well as e-mails which tie him to rightist actors in Venezuela and reveal plans to cause violence.
Rodriguez Torres explained that investigations over Tracy allowed to evidence that this man had been long ago "receiving funding from foreign non governmental organizations, which is then used to pay to priced members of JAVU and Movimiento Trece, which are also members of far right parties Primero Justicia, Voluntad Popular and Proyecto Venezuela, with a view to cause violent actions on the streets and create a climate of chaos."
"When (a country) wants to work on intelligence on another country, particularly those great powers which make that kind of labor and espionage, they use a lot that guise of filmmaker, documentary maker, photographer or journalist," Rodriguez Torres added.
The US citizen got in touch with rightist groups in Venezuela, met with them but at the same time he disguised of Chavez supporter and appeared among Chavez's supporters. "He made friends among groups and collectives of the Revolution to find his information."
The Interior Minister also said that after the investigation, the intelligence corp gathered enough information to think that it dealt with an espionage operation. "We were to arrest him and took him to court with elements we have seized so far."
